The Essential Tremor Toronto Network and Support Group was founded in 2011. The group didn’t meet in 2015 but has reformed in 2016. We move forward as the Essential Tremor Toronto Support Group and continue to be affiliated with the International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF). We organize meetings for people living with Essential Tremor (ET) and their families. We offer a place where everyone is welcome to speak openly about their challenges, fears and frustrations; we exchange ideas, compare stories and offer tips on how to cope at work, at home and in social situations. We organize specialized information sessions with doctors and other health professionals who speak about recent research and discuss the latest available treatment options. These sessions are open to anyone interested in learning about ET.
ET is the most common type of tremor and one of the most commonly observed movement disorders, yet most people know very little about it. In collaboration with the International Essential Tremor Foundation, and with the support of the Movement Disorders Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital, we actively advocate for greater awareness and education about Essential Tremor in Canada. To this end, we have hosted events to raise funds in support of the Movement Disorders Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital.
We invite you to start your own group to provide inspiration and fellowship among those living with ET in your area.
